ATTENTION!    HB1113 may have a grave impact on your business.

UPDATE  - 5/18/09

It appears this bill is probably dead, thanks to all of you who contacted our legislators. Here is a response from Christin Danchi, Rep. Stam's assistant.

"Thank you so much for contact Rep. Stam this week about HB 1113, "Opt-out/Atty Solicitations of Representation." As I mentioned on the phone, yesterday was the "crossover" deadline for the General Assembly. This bill was not voted on and passed to the Senate before yesterday's deadline, so it is probably dead for this biennium. I say probably because there is always a chance that someone could add an appropriation to the bill and make it eligible to be considered, but it is not very likely."

A recently introduced house bill that could greatly affect the way you do business. If passed, this bill would give potential clients the ability to opt out of receiving attorney solicitation letters, limiting your right to advertise your business and contact those people who need your services the most.

We are working to stop this bill. You can help us by contacting your local representative and asking him/her to vote NO on House Bill 1113. If other companies have the right to advertise their services, why can’t attorneys? Thank you for your help as we try to protect your firm’s right to advertise.
